uct application philosophy, the application method and/or hand craftsmanship constitute precious capital that we can combine today with an industrial production system that vaunts a high technological profile. FTE is prob- ably the only world-class company today that can guarantee such a complete combination of volumes, dimensions, types of wood, and fin- ishing using industrial technology matched to a revised handcraftsmanship system that has been modernized to satisfy all the requests for both look and productive capacity. Just imag- ine the advantage of having a supplier that can offer such an amazing assortment.
How does you company express its "green" commitment in real terms?
Gurjeet Singh: All the material that arrives from Europe, such as Oak, for example, is cer- tified FSC. Furthermore, the central support lay- er in Hevea represents the use of“recovered” wood from a plantation tree that has exhaust- ed its productive cycle and for such reason is perfectly sustainable even if objectively it has a higher cost than the other products normal- ly used for this reason. Around 75% of the wood we use today comes from plantations, and the most of the remaining 25% is certified to FSC
or similar levels. We think this is an excellent result but we don't want to stop here. We don't want to put a limit on our effort in this partic- ular field.
What are your prospects in Italy?
Gurjeet Singh: Italy is frankly not one of our leading markets at the moment but we intend to bring it into an important position in the shortestperiodoftimepossible.Wearecertain, however, that thanks to the innate taste and se- lectivity of the final clients in this nation, the aesthetic and technical solutions that we apply to our products will be appreciated even more. We also benefit from distributive support in Germany at our Riese Parkett client in Cologne, where more than 50 of our products under the Woodline Parquetry brand are on display.
Collaboration, partnerships or projects?
Gurjeet Singh: Every day, we add square me- ters of flooring to our orders. Every single square meter of our production symbolizes a form of collaboration or partnership that we have established. The international situation is not easy but we firmly believe in the work we do, in the ideas of our associates, and in the con- tinuing loyalty of our clients. I
THREE-LAYER PARQUET WITH A HEVEA CORE
FTE produces all types of parquet, primarily three-layer parquet in a wide assortment of size,
wood species, and finish. All, however, have one thing in common: a Hevea core. The central
support layer comes from the rubber tree, an expensive choice for the company that is rewarded by various benefits.
Firstly, this wood is distinguished for its physical-mechanical qualities that make it suitable for use even with floor heating. Secondly, its particular density ensures greater dimensional stability and resistance to both external pressures and changes in air temperature and humidity. Its qualities of elasticity and deformation resistance allow it to be used in the wooden flooring in gyms and indoor sports facilities. Lastly, the rapid growth of the plant and its wide diffusion make it a sustainable choice.
