This phrase, applicable to many human activities is particularly true when it comes to finishes
for wooden floors. In fact, the oils obtained
by pressing soybeans, flax, safflower, etc. together with beeswax, were the first products used
for the protection of wooden floors since ancient
times. As a result of technological evolution, and
especially the development of the petrochemical
industry have gradually allowed to formulate,
through the decades and thanks to huge
investments in research, solvent based protective
systems first and, in more recent years, water-
based products. Mapei, who invests 5% of its total

In this context, also to meet the tastes of the final users who increasingly appreciate finishes that preserve the natural look of the wood, Mapei laboratories have developed a water-based, extra matt protection system for parquet: Soft Touch System. Soft Touch System consists of a one-component water-based 100% polyurethane base, Ultracoat Soft Touch Base, to be applied in a single coat,
and two-component water-based polyurethane lacquer, Ultracoat Soft Touch Finish, applied in one or two coats depending on the intended use of the treated parquet. The extra - matt effect t is obtained by inserting in the product polyurethane microspheres which allow to obtain excellent results in terms of aesthetics, quite comparable to oil or wax finishing, and protection, this system being also suitable for flooring subject to intense traffic. www.mapei.it
