January appointment with Domotex
The Hannover Trade Fair Ground is already hard at work on the 2015 Edition of Domotex, the international carpeting and flooring exhibition
to be held in the German city from January 17 to 20. The second edition of Innovation@Domotex scheduled to propose five categories of product that will also include innovations in techniques of use, laying, and flooring will be held in the context of the exhibition. The event’s strong international dimension (1300 exhibitors from around 60 different nations) features the
participation of parquet and laminate producers. One of this edition’s most important innovations will be the area destined to innovative tools, laying materials, and machinery that will show professional visitors all the latest instruments for floor maintenance and laying. It must also be borne in mind that Domotex has a vast following among large-scale contract operators, such as architects, urban planners, designers, and interior designers, all in search of ideas and solutions for their projects. www.domotex.de
SAIE3: next appointment
to be held at the
same time as SAIE
The next edition of SAIE3,
Salone internazionale della
filiera di produzione del serramento
e delle finiture d’interni ed esterni
(The International Exhibition of Door
and Window Frame Production and Indoor/Outdoor Finishing) scheduled to be held in Bologna from
October 22 – 25 in concomitance with the 50th Edition
of the SAIE Show, the Building Innovation Exhibition,
is the spectacular showcase event staged at BolognaFiere for the construction industry, and this year, it will be even richer in events and content than ever before, and therefore even more capable of creating further value for the trade fair chain. A “new display format” for the future of the building world was inaugurated at SAIE 2013 based on the principle that creating a system is the most strategic way
to re-launch the sector, and this can take place only through the common dedication of the entire production chain to the theme of “safe and sustainable construction”.
SAIE3, Salone internazionale della filiera di produzione
del serramento e delle finiture d’interni ed esterni, will be
the only specialized exhibition in Italy in 2014 that addresses the specialized operators in the sector: architects, interior designers, planners, builders, maintenance personnel, retailers, and wholesalers. www.saie3.com

CE standard for wood products recognised in Japan
A CE standard for wood products has been recognised in Japan
for the first time. This will simplify exports of construction timber
to Japan, for European sawmills. CEI-Bois has worked through EuropeanWood to facilitate exports of wood products to Japan. “Recognition of the CE marked products for 2”x4” construction timber is a major breakthrough in our efforts to harmonise standards between Europe and Japan,” says Jan Söderlind, Chairman of EuropeanWood. Up until now European producers of 2”x4” products for structural usage needed a JAS certificate (Japan Agriculture Standard). From February 6, the European standard 14081-1 for design strength values for structural lumber is recognised in Japan. CE stamped 2”x4” products can thus be used in the same way as JAS certified products. Pine and spruce are included in the first step but other species can be added later. Recognised certifying bodies are NTI (Norwegian Institute of Wood Technology) and SP (SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden). Other certifying bodies can apply
at a later stage. www.europeanwood.org
