UNIKO LEGNO: a new brand in the world of parquet

  • Written by

Unikolegno’s history is similar to that of many in Italy, responsible for creating the universally recognised “made in Italy” formula. A definition that can trace its roots back to the Renaissance when Italian art helped spread the perception that an object produced in Italy contained a certain added value in terms of aesthetics, making it stand out from the rest. The art of woodworking naturally falls within this context: if we go back four centuries, we find many artists from the alps and foothills in the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions who created a “school” that has left its mark: the expression “made in Italy” used today.
The Unikolegno catalogue contains 10 collections: the product range numbers more than 600 items. A huge selection, many of the products being covered by patents, and all “built” entirely in-house.
The secret? Unikolegno floors incorporate the forty years’ experience of the company’s founder and current Managing Director. Marino Da Soller (see photo) started working when just 14 years old, producing wooden furniture in solid wood and building up some remarkable expertise. He knows all about the local timbers and exotic ones too: their good and bad points, their secrets, how they age and react to the weather and how they evolve during the production processes. Not to mention his great love for harmonious form.
